Nanzen-ji Temple



Suirokaku: a part of Biwako-Sosui


In 1291, Nanzen ji temple was changed to a Zen-temple from The villa of Emperor Kameyama (the 90th emperor; 1249-1305). Nanzen ji temple is the 1st highest level of Zen temple in Japan.

San-mon: Sanmon is a two story gate of Nanzen-ji temple (important cultural Heritage Site). Ishikawa Goemon, the famous Japanese thief (1558-1594), said “ A magnificent view! ” in the top of this San-mon, but this story is fiction in the Kabuki.
