Welcome from the Committee Chair
Welcome to the 12th International Student Seminar. The 12th ISS will be held from February 17 to 20, 2014 at Shirankaikan, Kyoto, Japan. This is a seminar for young researchers from all over the world, organized by young researchers from the Graduate School of Biostudies, the Institute for Virus Research,and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kyoto University.
The purpose of the ISS is to encourage and motivate young researchers, such as graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, to internationalize through science. This year, we decided on the slogan "No Life, No Science; No Science, No Life" to emphasize the wide range, central importance, and interdependence of biological sciences.
In this seminar, young researchers will have an opportunity to gain inspiration from presentations and discussions of their own work in English with researchers from different countries and diverse fields. Further, an overnight retreat will be held to facilitate communications with international researchers across borders and languages for all participants.
We hope that the 12th ISS will contribute to the further progress of all participants' research activities.
