Announcement on the Application and Decision of CeLiSIS Collaborative Research Promotion Funds for FY2025

Hirokazu Toju, Center Director

This year, applications were limited to early-career researchers. We received applications from pairs such as doctoral students with young researchers, and even some pairs of master’s students with assistant professors. This clearly demonstrates the broad interest across Kyoto University.

The review was conducted by four faculty members of the Graduate School of Biostudies, including myself, who also hold concurrent appointments at CeLiSIS. None of the reviewers were involved in the submitted proposals as principal investigators or co-investigators. In the review process, we evaluated the proposals in line with the program’s aim of fostering human resources in data-driven life science research, with particular attention to how data would be acquired and analyzed to generate synergistic effects among researchers from different fields. Based on this, three proposals were selected.

We intend to organize the inquiries we received regarding this year’s call, as well as our own evaluation criteria, and reflect them in next year’s application guidelines. For the next call, we also welcome proposals that involve handling diverse types of big data, such as image data, as well as those employing mathematical modeling, simulation, or bio-DX approaches. We sincerely look forward to applications from a wide range of disciplines.
