I enjoyed ISS for the opportunity to interact with colleagues and international researchers. Everyone was excited and motivated to communicate with each about their research work. I also really enjoyed the social events where I could find out about different cultures by chatting with the international researchers. Megan Oliver

Talk with researchers from overseas widened my point of view. It was also nice to interact with people in other labs in the graduate school. Higo Asuka

  • It was a great opportunity to get opinions and questions given by people in biological fields different from mine.
  • I could improve my presentation skill by thinking how to explain my research to the people in other fields.
  • Interaction with foreigners mediated by science encouraged me, at the same time, I realized that I have to improve my English skill.

I learned organization of a poster and improved basic presentation skill and English expression. It would be a good opportunity for your research plan and writing an application to summarize your data. Group discussion reminded me how important to explain what is interesting point of my research briefly.

It was also brilliant to interact with the students and the professors in the graduate school. Usui Mai

The most important thing for me to attend the seminar was improvement of presentation skill and communication in English. You never improve the speaking skill if you never talk in English. I was a bit afraid of speaking the language before the seminar, but such a concern was getting small by talking with foreigners. Regarding my presentation, professor Hejna provided a detailed guidance not only on my English. Discussion in English will be big advantage. Of course preparation of the presentation was tough work and took lots of time, but it was good to attend as a presenter. Kato Hirotaka
