Announcement on the Application and Decision of CeLiSIS Collaborative Research Promotion Funds for FY2024
Tadashi Uemura, Center Director
In this first year for this program, we received 18 applications. The applications covered a wide range of fields, including nanotechnology, biophysics, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, plant science, immunology, neuroscience, clinical epidemiology, breeding science, horticulture, geometry, genome science, and information science, indicating that everyone from across the university is interested in the project. Thank you very much.
The selection process was handled by four professors from the Graduate School of Life Sciences who also hold positions at the Center. None of the faculty members participated in the submitted proposals as principal investigators or co-investigators. In selecting the three proposals, we considered how the proposals would generate synergies among researchers in different fields by acquiring and analyzing data in line with the purpose of fostering human resources to promote data-driven life science research, and selected three proposals. Since we received far more applications than we could accept, even if the proposals were in line with the purpose of this grant, we considered how much the availability of this grant would contribute to the promotion of joint research in different fields.
We have reviewed the inquiries we received in connection with this year's applications and our selection criteria, and will reflect them in next year's application guidelines. We will also be accepting proposals that deal with various types of big data such as image data, mathematical modeling, simulation, bio-DX, and so on.
