Title of the talk: The Actin Cytoskeleton Helps Neurons Survive Stroke: a Novel Protective Molecular Pathway in Cellular Edema
Language to be used: English
Room: 103, Science Frontier Laboratory Building
Short description of the talk: Neurons exposed to hypoxia hyperactivate glutamate receptors, which leads to loss of membrane potential, cell swelling, and oncosis. Dr. Halpain will describe a neuronal pro-survival mechanism whereby the actin cytoskeleton is rapidly reorganized in dendrites in response to glutamate receptor hyperactivation.
