“May the Force of Science be with you”

Welcome to the 14th International Student Seminar (ISS). The 14th ISS will be held from March 9th to March 14th, 2016. This is a seminar of young scientists, for young scientists from all over the world, organized by young scientists from the Graduate School of Biostudies, the Institute for Virus Research and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Science, Kyoto University.
One of the aims of this seminar is to provide an opportunity to learn about and be inspired by the wide range of cutting-edge biological topics, while improving our discussion skills. The most important thing is to break through our intellectual, cultural, and language barriers, making scientific friendships and connections around the world. For these purposes, we decided on the slogan “May the Force of Science be with you”. In keeping with the spirit of our slogan, we will offer special days to feel closeness to the Force of Science.
In this seminar, young scientists will have an opportunity to gain inspiration from presentations and discussions of each other’s work in English and with scientists from different countries and diverse fields. Furthermore, to facilitate communication with international scientists across borders and languages for all participants, we will provide 2 extra events. One is the opening seminar and another is the overnight retreat. We hope the experience may contribute to the development of all participants’ international careers.
We are looking forward to cross swords on science issues with you in the 14th ISS.
