Main Theme

The researches carried out in our laboratory are focused on several RNA viruses, including bornavirus, and hepatitis C virus. All our projects aim to understand the fundamental mechanisms of the replication and pathogenesis of these viruses. We are investigating the replication and persistent mechanism of the bornavirus in the cell nucleus.
The understanding the biological significance of the endogenous element of bornaviruses in mammalian genomes is one of the main focuses of bornavirus researches. We also aim to develop a novel RNA virus vector using bornavirus, which can express stably functional small RNAs. The understanding of the molecular mechanism of tumorigenesis caused by hepatitis viruses is also the main purpose of our laboratory.
